We're going to need the F7's tankiness and extra weapons tomorrow for Tactical Strike Groups so I put it on the Pirate Inquisitor Spec. At 4.6M it's now his most-expensive ship (the Clipper is second).

The Blacksmith actually looks pretty decent for piracy, and I am sure we'll get a Nightbreak for the F7 eventually to differentiate the base from the Pirate version, but for now both specs get the Blacksmith paint.

[icycalm]

shubn suggested using the silver Ironcore paint to differentiate our two Idrises for tomorrow's Tactical Strike Groups op and I was inspired to make this differentiation permanent as follows:

Idris with Sharktooth paint

Assault Frigate: Idris-M (Sharktooth) [Pledge] [$$$]
Support Frigate: Idris-P (Ironcore) [Wikelo] [VAR]

Idris with Ironcore paint

So the P will be used more for legit piracy when you want to steal and carry stuff, as well as general support as tomorrow, and the M for more offensive piracy where you're trying to take over a location.

Beyond excited to see two Idrises being fielded for the first time tomorrow!

With the Odin unveil I needed to rework the capital warship distribution between ranks to fit it in, so here's what's changed.

First off, capitals are almost exclusive to strategic ranks, with one exception: the Captain gets the Polaris, and now the Polaris can be earned in-game via Wikelo. So keep that in mind. No need to pay any cash if you're a Captain and want a capital. Just ask people to help you earn a Polaris. And good luck with that.

Now regarding the strategic ranks. There are five cap warships in total minus the aforementioned Polaris that I have divided into three tiers: the Bengal at the top, then the Odin and the Javelin in the middle, and finally the Kraken and the Idris at the bottom. You could think of these tiers as large, medium, and small.

So I've given the large category to the Emperor (Bengal), the medium to the Supreme Commanders (Odin & Javelin), and the small to the Commanders (Kraken & Idris).

Regarding the Pirate tiers, in earlier times I had tried to differentiate the base from the Pirate ships so that the base Commander would get the Idris and the Pirate Commander the Kraken, but this isn't workable mechanically: both specs need both of these caps to fill different roles, so now the cap warship distribution is identical between base and Pirate Specs, just with different paints (and also assault and support variations of both the Idris and Kraken, etc.)

All this of course is still mostly academic since only the Idris has been launched so far out of the five ships. However, a year from now we'll get the Kraken too, and the small category will be complete.

It's anyone's guess when the Javelin will come out, but my guess would be a year after that, so two years from now. And add another year for the Odin, so three years from now.

And finally I expect the Bengal four years from now. About the same time I expect the 1.0 release. All this of course assuming funding and hiring keep increasing. Otherwise we're looking at a decade.

[icycalm]

Forgot to say that the Idris-P can also now be earned in-game, again via Wikelo, and I've updated the specs to reflect that, so it's now entirely possible to become a Cult Commander with your own capital ship without having to spend a large amount of cash (still need to buy paints etc. of course). And until you've earned it, you can borrow the other players' when needed. This will be true of all ships, so Adjudicator's Odin can serve as both shubn's and recoil's flagship when needed. Adjudicator himself won't be able to command it until he becomes a Supreme Commander, and in order to do that he needs to take over a system. Luckily we should get the Castra system before the Odin's release, so if he wants it, it's his. It's also a very military-themed system, so it will be a good match for Adjudicator who seems charmingly obsessed with military history and technology.

Honey, where are my pants? [Ace Interceptor suit]

Really dig the Ace Interceptor flight suit! But I wish we could put some pants or light armor on top that doesn't impede the G resistance. Right now it only allows a chest armor slot and well... it doesn't leave much for the citizen imagination!

This is something to think about. I'd like to see it with the brown Bombardier version of the core and helmet. I don't see it working for the tactical ranks, but it could be used for higher-ups.

Someone took a pic of three Nightbreak ships: https://www.reddit.com/r/starcitizen/co ... _the_verse

Obviously they go well together, but what you can't see and should imagine is that our black Inquisitors will look even better matched with these ships.

Now I can black out for the entire flight!

Probably would be bad to even ride on a ship wearing this, eventually. Once the G-force effects apply to passengers too.

Of course the Master Chief gets this. What's awesome about the design is that it looks exactly what you'd imagine an upgraded Palatino would look like, and I've already given the Palatino to the Master Chief as his base armor. It makes my choices look perfectly organic, as if CIG is designing for the Cult Spec!

Below is what it looks like in the Spec (in both base and Pirate versions), with the Mech Spec directly beneath it, so that the Master Chief gets to choose between them. And if the Captain needs both a Super Heavy and a Mech? He calls up two Master Chiefs.

MECH SPEC

Note that this isn't just a new armor but an entire new armor CLASS, which means we might get more armors and weapons for this class down the line. I've also heard cool rumors like he won't be healable with medpens and maybe not even with medguns, and if you combine this with the gun upgrade/repair bench teased last week [ > ], it could be that those benches are the only way to repair it! Another rumor is that it might require batteries, and yet another rumor is that the final boss(es) in the remade Siege of Orison coming in July will use this armor and weapon, and therefore might sort-of require it to defeat them.

Note that this is still not the Titan suit that will require dedicated charging stations inside specific vehicles to be deployed. That's rumored to be coming with Squadron 42, which is less than a year away, so with the Super Heavy being an intermediate stage between Heavy and Titan, and the Mech sitting above both, the ground tactical situation a year from now could become very complex indeed!

If the Titan suit does eventually come I will likely push the Super Heavy down to the Inquisitors and reserve the Titan for the Master Chief, so that we could deploy an entire Super Heavy/Titan fireteam (3x Super Heavy + 1 Titan), and support them by for example a couple of regular fireteams.

Can't wait to see all this in action. July!

This won't have any EVA thrusters, IIRC.

Also can't self-heal and probably use most tools, just walk and shoot for the most part. It's for very particular use and preferably need allies to cover your flanks and top up your health.

I would love to wear this and have a combat ATLS suit on top. Just march through areas with super heavy armor in an ATLS.

I doubt you'll be able to get into a pilot seat at all in that thing, which maybe makes the rumored drop of suit lockers in 4.9 make more sense.

Drop from orbit in this and CIG would finally have a justification for us going through planets.

Well played, John Crewe. The Emperor protects.

Super Palatino Super Heavy Super Armor

Kinda looks like an upgraded version of Palatino armor. I hope the chin guard thingy actually blocks part of your view.

ADP-mk4 already blocks your view if you try to look straight down as armor is also a real physical object, I'm sure this will be suitably worse in that regard.

This was scheduled for 4.9 this month but it looks like it'll slip to 4.10 next month to coincide with the (hopeful) introduction of suit lockers. Either way when I saw MrKraken's video and pic I had to add it to the Spec for the Assassin, I just couldn't hold myself. And since it looks like I'll be giving him the Wolf too, it'll be a smashing combo. Now we just need to find the kind of missions and loops that can be used with it.

I'd been having second thoughts about the Palatino Necropolis for the Master Chief because all the pics I'd seen of it were uninspired, but this new one completely changes everything. It looks fantastic. Now we just have to find one...

Cool promo and confirmation of the colors. The default is the darkest so perfect for the Master Chief, but it must be looted from somewhere, I think bunkers? The SteelTek of course as aforesaid for the SupComs [ > ] and I think the Stronghold is the purple Nine Tails one so perfect for the Emperor. And as for the Snow Camo that you can get from Wikelo, it can go to the Master Chiefs of a future white Commander.

[icycalm]

There's been confusion over the tactical Pilot Specs partly because I hadn't made up my mind on which suit to give to whom, and partly because I hadn't got hold of all of them to see how many slots they have etc. All this uncertainty ends now, and I can present to you all three finalized tactical Pilot Specs. Note that only the Master Chief has the right color in his pic, the other two colors are wrong. That's because I would rather have a great pic in the wrong color than a bad pic with the right color. We'll just have to wait until one of the photographers takes the pics in the right color. Until then, those pics are for illustrative purposes only.

What about the strategic ranks?

For now just use the closest in terms of color. So there is a red and a blue Tailwind that Adjudicator and shubn can use respectively, and a green Omni for ysignal plus a lootable blue Omni for shubn. I would prefer Omni for everyone, but its colors are limited for now. What about SupComs and the Emperor? Gold/silver and purple undersuits respectively will do for now. Same for all the strategic ranks really: feel free to use pretty much whatever in your respective colors. I am sure we'll get more options eventually. Keep also in mind that the flight bonuses of flight suits shouldn't be very relevant for strategic ranks because they aren't supposed to be 1v1 dogfighting anyway.

I went and took some pics of the Pilot Inquisitor Spec.

Thanks to the core, it actually has 4 magazine slots, plus 2 grenade slots, and 5k µSCU of storage (that's 5 Cruz for instance). It can also fit a backpack. A light backpack I assume, since it's a light core. I haven't tested this yet. The suit can also fit arms and legs armor pieces, but I tested a few and they all clip horribly.
